Zamboanga del Norte






Zamboanga del Norte is situated in Northern Mindanao. It is bounded on the north and west by the Sulu Sea, on the east by Misamis Occidental, and on the south by Zamboanga del Sur.
The province occupies a total land area of 6,618 square kilometers. It has an average elevation of 243.8 meters, with Mt. Dabiak in Katipunan as the highest peak at 2,600 meters. Other parts, near the coastlines, are plains. The province’s irregular coastline runs 400 kilometers from north to south. It is part of Region IX in the island of mindanao.







Libuton Cave

   The Libuton Cave in the municipality of Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte is one of the ecotourism sites being developed and promoted by the Dipolog-Dapitan-Polanco-Katipunan-Roxas-Manukan (DDPKaRoMa) Alliance. 

People go caving or spelunking, the sport of cave exploring, because it can mean different things to different people.

People go here to relax and fell the warm of nature.








Sungkilaw falls
Sungkilaw falls is an awesome falls that lies beneath the mountains of Diwan, Dipolog City. It boasts a spring on the east part that flows to a very rapid fall down to a river.

"A cemetery under the sea sounds a bit of scary if not absurd. But it does exist in Camiguin and people come to this tourist spot by crossing the sea to the large cross marker to get near the cemetery that was sunk by a volcanic eruption. The big cross serves is hollow inside for people to go up and see the entire view of the sunken cemetery.
From afar, the cemetery looked like a large coral reef with a lighthouse in the middle. The blue green waters hide the history and the essence of the place, which was intended for the dead. The waves of the sea come alive as they splash through the single monument in the middle of the raging water. "

KATIBAWASAN FALLS
Katibawasan Falls is one of the treasured gifts nature has blessed the island of Camiguin.According to the locals, the Waterfalls measures about 250 feet high, cascades to a rock pool surrounded by ground orchids, wild ferns, trees and boulders.The falls rushes down into its green pool that is really refreshing for a good swim. Tourist are welcome to swim. It is an ideal place to cool off during hot and humid days. There is however an entrance fee of 30 pesos per person since the falls is maintained by the province. Giant ferns decorate the surrounding land, carpeting the spaces and huge trees and dropping vines provides the backdrop the falls.


In the island of Camiguin, a boomerang-shaped sandbar called “White Island”, named for the binding paleness of its beach. The beach bums gamboling on fine, powdery sands and a view of a cloud capped mountain.

Cagayan de Oro

Cagayan de Oro is one of the progressive cities of Mindanao and is considered to be the business center of northern Mindanao. It is the capital city of Misamis Oriental. Majority of the people here speak Cebuano because some of the people here came from Cebu and Bohol. The city is known as the “City of Golden Friendship” because of the innate friendliness of its people. The many activities one can do in the city and its surrounding suburbs, as well as the many historical and adventure sites in CDO (as it is popularly called) make it a great destination to travel to.

Whitewater Rafting



 Experience an adventure in the natural, wild, and rugged countryside. Shoot the rapids and wrestle the waves and whirlpools down the Cagayan de Oro River. A minimum of 6 persons can enjoy a maximum of four hours with 14 rapids and friendly whirlpools between the huge mountain ranges of Bukidnon. Among the rapids you will encounter, the hardest to conquer of all is the “Kiss the Walls.”

Mindanao Island: Some Figures And Facts



Mindanao is the second largest island in the Philippines and the is located in the very south of the archipelago. More precise, it lays between the Sulu Sea in the west and the Philippine Sea in the east. Together with the big islands in the north, which is the Visayas and Luzon, Mindanao builds up the group of islands in the Philippines.






With an area of about 95.581 square kilometers, Mindanao is the second largest Philippines Island after Luzon. The both islands together comprise about two thirds of the country area and about 70% of the population is based here. Mindanao has about 15 million inhabitants. The capital city is Davao City near Mount Apo, with a height of about 2.954 m what makes it the highest mountain in the country.


Davao City is said to be the largest city in the world – at least by square footage. Besides Mount Apo, you could also find Mount Sumagaya. The following islands belong to Mindanao: Mindanao, the Sulu archipelago (with Basilan, Jolo and Tawi-Tawi), Camiguin, Dinagat, Siargao, Samal Island and Sarangani Islands.

The regions of Mindanao are divided into provinces:

Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula): Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay
Region X (Northern Mindanao): Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte
Region XI (Davao Region): Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental
Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN): South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani
Region XIII (Caraga): Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur
The provinces of Maguindanao, Shariff Kabunsuan and Lanao del Sur belong to the ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), which was built in  1989. Basilan, Sulu und Tawi-Tawi are also part of it.
